Far Cry 6 New Game + Features And What Carries Over

Far Cry 6 offers players a thrilling open-world experience set in the tropical paradise of Yara, but completing the main story does not have to be the end of Dani Rojas's journey. Ubisoft introduced the New Game Plus mode to allow players to restart the campaign while retaining much of their hard-earned arsenal and progress. Understanding what transfers over and what resets helps players prepare effectively for a tougher second playthrough.
Retained Weapons and Gear Loadouts
When starting a New Game Plus run in Far Cry 6, players retain almost all of their unlocked weaponry and arsenal. This includes standard firearms, unique weapons purchased or found across Yara, and powerful Resolver weapons. Armor sets, gear pieces, and custom weapon mods also remain in your inventory immediately upon restarting.
Keeping your gear provides a major tactical advantage when tackling early-game missions with end-game firepower. Players can experiment with different gear builds and playstyles right from the beginning without needing to scavenge for resources again.
Amigos and Vehicle Upgrades
Your loyal animal companions, known as Amigos, carry over into the new playthrough along with their unlocked abilities. You do not need to repeat their specific unlock quests or re-complete their perk challenges to make them effective in combat. Vehicles, ride customizations, and unlocked transport options also remain fully accessible from your fleet menu.
Having fully upgraded Amigos like Guapo or ChicharrĂ³n early on changes how you approach stealth and combat encounters. This continuity ensures that your hard work in training companions remains valuable throughout your entire game experience.
What Does Not Carry Over
While gear and companions transfer seamlessly, story-specific progression and world state elements are completely reset. Main campaign quests, side operations, Yaran Stories, and military checkpoints must be cleared again from scratch. Camp upgrades, guerrillas bases, and map exploration fog also return to their initial unvisited states.
Key quest items and specific story-gated progression tools do not carry over to maintain narrative logic. This reset gives players a fresh opportunity to explore Yara, make different narrative choices, and liberate territories once again.
Difficulty Adjustments and Rewards
New Game Plus encourages players to test their skills by adjusting difficulty settings or enabling harder game modes. Enemy encounters feel more challenging as opponents scale to match your advanced gear and heightened combat abilities. Completing the campaign on New Game Plus rewards dedicated players with unique cosmetic items and achievements to mark their victory.
